Plan, billing and account

Everything about a BroadPaper Cloud account is managed from Plan and billing, at the foot of the sidebar in the application.

Plans

There are 2 plans, and the whole designer is in both. Documents made on Free carry a small BroadPaper line along the foot of each page; Pro removes it, raises every limit, and adds importing a Word document or a PDF as a design — see Importing.

Prices are in US dollars and exclude any sales tax or VAT. Plan and billing shows what your workspace has used of its documents and imports this month, its storage, its sets of data and its saved designs. A limit is checked at the moment you do something — bringing in data, making a document — and the message says which limit it was and what would raise it.

People

A workspace belongs to the business, and colleagues are invited to it from People, at the foot of the sidebar. Up to 20 people can belong to a workspace, on either plan. Everybody in it shares its data, designs, documents and limits — a colleague does not add to how many documents the workspace can make.

  • Inviting. An admin enters a colleague's email address and they are sent an invitation. Somebody who already uses BroadPaper also finds it in the workspace switcher at the top of the application.
  • Admins and members. Everybody can bring in data, design and make documents. Admins can also invite and remove people, choose who else is an admin, rename the workspace, change the plan and delete the account. Whoever sets a workspace up is its first admin, and a workspace always keeps at least one.
  • Leaving. Anybody can leave a workspace from People. Their sign-in, and any other workspace they belong to, are not affected.
  • Several workspaces. One sign-in can belong to several — your own and a client's, say. The switcher at the top moves between them, and each has its own plan and its own limits.

Joining a workspace

From the invitation email. Follow the link. If you are not signed in, it opens a page headed You've been invited to a workspace.: if you do not use BroadPaper yet, create your sign-in there with the email address the invitation was sent to; if you do, sign in. Either way you go straight into the workspace, with the data, designs and documents your colleagues have already made.

If you are asked what your business is called. That screen, Let's set up your workspace., appears whenever you are signed in but no workspace is open — for example when an invitation was accepted without its link bringing you into the application, or when your sign-in was made for the BroadPaper SDK's account page, which shares it. Look above the question first: under Workspaces you already have access to, a workspace you have been invited to says you've been invited and has a Join button, and one you already belong to has Open. Choose it rather than pressing Create my workspace, which would make a second, empty workspace of your own beside your colleagues'.

Already using BroadPaper? An invitation also waits in the workspace switcher at the top of the application.

Paying

Choose Move to Pro on Plan and billing, monthly or yearly. Payment is taken by Creem, our merchant of record, on their own checkout page — a card number never reaches BroadPaper. Creem handles sales tax and VAT and issues the invoice. The new plan applies as soon as Creem confirms the payment, which usually takes a few seconds.

Only an admin of the workspace can change what it pays — see People. Everybody else can use everything else. Once you are paying, Manage payment opens Creem's billing page, where the card and invoices are.

If a renewal payment fails, the plan keeps working for 7 days while the card is updated, so a declined card does not stop a document going out that afternoon. That grace is only for a failed payment.

Changing or cancelling

Change or cancel on Plan and billing opens Creem's billing page. Moving down, or cancelling, takes effect at the end of the period you have already paid for: until then nothing changes, and from that day new documents carry the BroadPaper line again. Everything you have made stays yours and stays downloadable, and your data and designs stay in your workspace.

A refunded payment, or one reversed through your bank, moves the workspace to Free straight away rather than at the end of the period. Nothing in the workspace is deleted. Refunds are covered by the refund policy.

Your data

  • Spreadsheets are read in your browser. Only the rows and columns you bring in are stored, never the file itself.
  • What you bring in, your designs and your documents are stored privately for your workspace. They are never shared, and nothing is used to train anything.
  • A document is visible outside your workspace only through a share link you created, and only for as long as that link works.
  • Deleting a set of data, a design or a document removes it. Deleting your account removes all of it, as described below.

Deleting your account

In the application, go to Plan and billing → Delete account. Only an admin of the workspace can do this, and it deletes the workspace for everybody in it. It cannot be undone, so it goes step by step:

  1. What will be deleted is listed, with how many of each there are.
  2. An active paid subscription is cancelled as part of deleting, and you confirm that cancellation separately. It is cancelled immediately, not at the end of the period. If you think you are owed a refund, email support@broadpaper.com before deleting your account.
  3. Other organisations your sign-in belongs to are shown. BroadPaper Cloud and the BroadPaper SDK share one sign-in, so if you are also a member of, for example, an SDK licence account, your sign-in will be removed from that too — you are asked to acknowledge that before going on.
  4. Type your business name to confirm.

Billing is cancelled first. If the cancellation fails, nothing is deleted and you are told, so you are never left with an account gone and a subscription still charging.

What is deleted, permanently

  • every set of data;
  • every design, with its history and thumbnails;
  • every document, and every share link with its activity — shared links stop working immediately;
  • your letterheads and folders;
  • the workspace itself — other members of it lose access;
  • your BroadPaper sign-in. This is the last step: if it cannot be removed, everything above is still deleted, and the page you land on says so and how to have the sign-in removed.

What is not

  • copies of documents that have already been downloaded or sent;
  • if the workspace ever had a subscription, a record that it was closed — its old identifier, its Creem identifiers and the date, with no name or content — so that a billing message arriving afterwards is ignored;
  • BroadPaper's service logs, until they expire after at most ninety days, and copies in database backups, which are overwritten within thirty-five days;
  • invoices and payment records held by Creem, who keep them as merchant of record.

Still stuck?

Email support@broadpaper.com and a person who works on BroadPaper will reply. It helps to include the exact message you saw, what kind of file you were using (a workbook, a CSV, a paste) and where it came from.

Please do not attach a spreadsheet of real client data. A copy with two or three made-up rows that still shows the problem is almost always enough, and it is better for everybody that we never hold the real one.
